Discover Walks, Village Life and the Purbeck Countryside

Although the castle ruins are the main draw, there are plenty of other activities to enjoy in Corfe Castle beyond exploring the fortress itself. The village sits in the heart of the Isle of Purbeck and is surrounded by some of the finest walking countryside in Dorset.

Many visitors begin by wandering through the village square before heading out on one of the circular walks around Corfe Castle. These routes lead across Corfe Common and into the surrounding hills, with stunning views of the castle towering above the village and across the wider Purbeck landscape. One simple option is to explore the village itself. You’ll find small independent shops, cafés and the steam railway station where historic trains regularly roll through the village.

After a walk, we often end up at the Greyhound Inn, which boasts one of the best beer gardens in the village with views directly up to the castle. It’s a lovely spot to enjoy a local ale and take in the scenery before heading home.
