Why We Love Eating in Wareham
The Quay is one of our favourite places to eat. You have a variety of options here: a rustic pub, a gastro pub right on the river, and cafés where you can enjoy a coffee, a snack, or an ice cream while sitting outside and watching kayakers and boats moor at the quayside. Wareham’s Saturday market is also worth visiting. You can wander among the stalls, sample local produce, and pick up fresh ingredients to create a Dorset-inspired dish.
One of the things we enjoy most is the variety. Spring and summer bring outdoor dining beside the river, autumn is perfect for cosy pub lunches after countryside walks, while winter offers roaring fires, hearty Dorset dishes and one of the county’s most atmospheric market towns for a leisurely weekend lunch.
Wareham also makes an excellent starting point for discovering some of Dorset’s best places to eat. Head towards Corfe Castle for traditional village pubs, enjoy seafood overlooking Studland Bay, treat yourself to lunch at The Pig on the Beach, or continue to Swanage for cafés and restaurants overlooking the seafront.
