If you’re staying in one of our Dorset holiday cottages and exploring West Dorset, Burton Bradstock has an excellent dining scene. What we love most is how authentic everything feels. There are no chains here, no busy high streets packed with restaurants competing for attention. Instead, you’ll find welcoming village pubs, one of Dorset’s most famous beach cafés, a Michelin listed restaurant, and a handful of places locals and visitors return to time and again.
If we had to choose one place that captures Burton Bradstock, it would probably be The Three Horseshoes.
Set in the heart of the village, it’s exactly the sort of pub you hope to find in Dorset. The staff are warm and welcoming, the locals are friendly, and there’s always a relaxed atmosphere. It’s equally good for a pint after a coastal walk, a family lunch, or an evening meal. Over the years, it has built a strong reputation for food as well as hospitality, and it’s a place we regularly recommend to guests staying nearby.

If you’re celebrating a special occasion or looking for a more refined dining experience, The Seaside Boarding House is another excellent option just outside the village. Overlooking the Jurassic Coast from its spectacular clifftop setting, the Michelin Guide-listed restaurant has earned an outstanding reputation for its seasonal menus, fresh local seafood and relaxed coastal style. While we haven’t had the opportunity to dine there ourselves yet, it’s firmly on our list and comes highly recommended by both the Michelin Guide and many Dorset food lovers.
Of course, no guide to eating out in Burton Bradstock would be complete without mentioning Hive Beach Café. Perched on Hive Beach with spectacular views across the Jurassic Coast, it’s one of Dorset’s best-known coastal dining spots and a destination in its own right. The food is excellent, with fresh seafood, local produce and seasonal dishes featuring prominently on the menu. It’s particularly popular at weekends, during the school holidays and throughout the summer, so booking ahead is always sensible if you’d like a table.
If you can’t get seated straight away, don’t worry. The café also serves takeaway drinks, snacks and light bites, so you can grab something and enjoy the view from the beach instead.
