Description
Located in the heart of a pretty Dorset village with shop, pub and countryside walks on the doorstep, Weston Cottage is a recently renovated, beautifully furnished, pet-friendly, thatch cottage for up to six guests. This cottage is ideal for families, friends or couples looking to explore the stunning Jurassic Coast.
Set in a row of traditional terraced cottages in Winfrith Newburgh, Weston Cottage offers deceptively generous accommodation and a simple, comfortable, calm interior scheme that combines traditional English reclaimed and restored furniture pieces with natural materials and neutral colours associated with Scandinavian design.
An enclosed lobby with coat and boot storage leads into a spacious and lovingly furnished living room complete with a feature stone fireplace, window seat, painted stone flooring, restored window shutters and beamed ceiling. There is plenty of comfortable seating with a three-seater sofa, oversized Scandi style velvet lounge chair with matching ottoman and a further armchair. A bioethanol fire is ideal for enjoying cosy nights in watching the Smart TV or relaxing with a book.
From the living room a door leads to the expansive kitchen/dining room complete with all modern conveniences including a 5-ring electric range cooker, full height fridge/freezer, microwave and dishwasher. As with many traditional cottages, this room tends to be the heart of the home and the owners have furnished it with a large circular farmhouse dining table that seats up to six, and additional easy chairs so that everyone can gather together for dining, playing board games or just chilling.
Stairs from the kitchen, with bespoke handrails hand-crafted by the owners, lead to a light and airy landing off which are three bedrooms, the family bathroom and a laundry cupboard that houses a combined washer/dryer.
The master bedroom features a king size bed with bedside tables and lamps, shuttered windows to the front, a dressing table and chair and an open-style clothes storage unit.
Bedroom two has a double bed with skylight windows over, a dressing table and chair, bedside tables and lamp and an open clothes storage alcove while Bedroom three, which overlooks the front, has two 2ft 6” single beds, a chair and an open style clothes storage unit. Please note that there are areas of restricted ceiling height in the eaves of the bedrooms.
To the rear of the cottage, accessed through French doors from the kitchen/dining room is a private and fully enclosed contemporary landscaped courtyard garden featuring sculptural foliage in corten steel planters. There is plenty of quality outdoor furniture provided including benches, chairs and a coffee table for relaxing, a bistro table and chairs for enjoying breakfast or a glass of wine immediately outside the kitchen and a dining table and benches for al-fresco meals to the rear of the garden. A charcoal BBQ is available for guest use and there is a shed that can be used for storage of bikes, water-sports equipment or such like.
There is no dedicated parking space available for Weston Cottage, but there is plenty of unrestricted parking on the road directly outside. Owing to Winfrith Newburgh being a village that’s ‘off the beaten track’ spaces can usually be found easily.
A cot and highchair are available for guest use. Please advise at time of booking if you require these to be made available. Please note that a cot mattress is not supplied, nor any cot bedding and there are no stairgates fitted at Weston Cottage.
