Explore Corfe Castle’s history, Steam Railways, and Water Parks.

Although the castle ruins are the most obvious attraction, there are plenty of other great things to do in Corfe Castle while exploring the village. The history of Corfe Castle dates back nearly a thousand years, and today the village that grew beneath it is one of the most scenic places to visit in Dorset.

One of the highlights is the Swanage steam railway, which runs directly through Corfe Castle station. Watching the historic trains arrive beneath the castle ruins is a truly unique experience, and our children loved riding the railway through the Purbeck countryside to nearby Wareham.

Families also enjoy visiting the Corfe Castle Model Village, a miniature replica of the village and castle as they appeared before the Civil War. There are also other features there too, including an enchanted fairy garden and giant family games.

If you’re visiting with family, Dorset Water Park is just a short drive away and features a large inflatable course on the lake. We’ve visited this many times with our children. They also have a fantastic mud trail — messy but fun!
