Weymouth Beach

Weymouth Beach is a long stretch of soft sand, perfect for typical family seaside days. It’s highly accessible, well-located, and ideal for those who want everything within a short walk. It’s also widely regarded as one of the UK’s best family beaches, regularly winning awards for its golden sands, safe, shallow waters, traditional seaside entertainment, and excellent facilities. It consistently ranks highly in national guides, including being named the UK’s best beach by TripAdvisor in 2025 and by The Times in 2023.

Throughout August, there is a special free firework display every Monday at 9.30pm, lighting up the bay. From late July until the end of August, bands often play on the beach by The Boat Café on the Esplanade, starting at 7 pm.

Why We Love It

Weymouth Beach holds many happy memories for us. When our children were little, this was the beach we returned to again and again. It’s wide, spacious and full of soft sand.

What we’ve always loved most is how shallow the water is. On calm mornings, it’s like a mill pond, which makes it brilliant for paddleboarding. You might even spot us out there at sunrise, it’s one of our favourite ways to start the day.

And when anyone has had enough of sunbathing, there’s so much nearby to keep everyone happy. Our children loved the arcades and would spend ages collecting tickets to trade in for sweets and small prizes. It became a bit of a family ritual.

Weymouth is a fantastic, safe, and genuinely family‑friendly beach and we’re confident you’ll make your own happy memories here too.

We also love watching the summer fireworks and the fantastic Leggomen band, who play on the beach during the summer.
