Overcombe Beach
Overcombe Beach sits quietly between Weymouth’s beaches at Greenhill and Bowleaze Cove, and it often feels like the in-between place locals quietly favour. A mix of sand and shingle with a wide promenade, it’s more open and less crowded.
The views stretch across Weymouth Bay towards Portland, and the long, flat promenade makes it ideal for walking, running and cycling.
Why We Love It Here
Overcombe is one of our go-to beaches for everyday moments. We love walking our dog along the promenade here.. We also have fond memories of teaching our children to cycle along this stretch too.
These days, it’s usually a walk or a run for us, with occasional Parkrun mornings. The autumn and winter route follows the promenade at Overcombe before looping back towards the clock tower in Weymouth. There’s some good coffee and snack options here too. The Top Cat Kiosk, which has great snacks and seating on the beach, or the Oasis Café for something more substantial.
We’ve even kayaked along this stretch, paddling over from Bowleaze Cove, stopping at Top Cat for a break, and then continuing into Weymouth.
