If we’re honest, Burton Bradstock isn’t a place packed with attractions or organised activities, and that’s exactly why we love it. People come here to slow down, get outdoors and enjoy one of Dorset’s most beautiful stretches of coastline. Whether it’s walking along the Jurassic Coast, spending a few hours on Hive Beach or simply taking in the views, Burton Bradstock is all about making the most of the surrounding landscape.
For us, walking is undoubtedly the highlight. One of our favourite routes follows the South West Coast Path towards West Bay and Bridport. The scenery is spectacular throughout, with dramatic cliffs, sweeping sea views and some wonderful viewpoints along the way. If you’re feeling energetic, it’s possible to walk all the way to Bridport and back, passing the edge of Bridport & West Dorset Golf Club, which is well worth a visit if you’re a golfer. The course welcomes visitors and offers some of the finest coastal views of any golf course in the country.

Hive Beach is another major draw. During the summer months, Burton Bradstock SUP offers paddleboard hire and lessons, allowing visitors to explore this stretch of the Jurassic Coast from the water. Even if paddleboarding isn’t for you, Hive Beach is a wonderful place to spend a few hours. Swimming, beachcombing, photography, fossil hunting and simply enjoying the scenery are all part of the experience.
The quiet country lanes around the village are also ideal for cycling, while wildlife enthusiasts and photographers are often rewarded with spectacular coastal views and birdlife throughout the year. West Bay, Bridport, Abbotsbury and West Bexington are all within easy reach.
