Discover Dorset’s Spectacular Jurassic Coast
One of the things we love most about staying at Silverlake Estate is that you can enjoy many completely different beach experiences on the same holiday.
Some mornings call for a leisurely stroll to Silverlake’s private lakeside beach. On other days, it’s hard to resist heading to Dorset’s world-famous Jurassic Coast, where dramatic cliffs, hidden coves and sweeping sandy beaches create some of the country’s most unforgettable coastal scenery.
Living in Dorset has meant we’ve been fortunate to explore these beaches in every season. We’ve watched the sunrise over Weymouth Bay, enjoyed family days out at Ringstead Bay, walked the iconic path between Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door countless times, and ended summer evenings watching the sun slowly disappear over Chesil Beach.
The beauty of staying at Silverlake is that you don’t have to choose between lakeside tranquillity and coastal adventure.
You can enjoy both.

Enjoy Silverlake’s Private Beach
Before heading to the coast, it’s worth remembering that one of the nicest beaches during your stay might already be on your doorstep.
Silverlake’s private lakeside beach offers a completely different experience from Dorset’s busier seaside resorts.
There’s no traffic, no searching for parking and no crowded promenade.
Instead, you’ll find a peaceful stretch of lakeside where families relax together, children paddle safely on the freshwater, and guests launch paddleboards and kayaks before breakfast.
If you’re staying for a week, don’t feel every day has to involve the Jurassic Coast. Some of the best afternoons are spent simply relaxing beside Silverlake’s private beach before enjoying dinner on the terrace, with the lake reflecting the evening sunshine.
