Description
Church Cottage, which sleeps six in three bedrooms, is the epitome of a traditional English country cottage featuring gorgeous original brick floors, an inglenook fireplace and a pretty enclosed garden complete with Wisteria framed entrance gate. There’s also a cosy pub and independent village shop in easy walking distance.
Think of long walks followed by cosy nights in around the real wood burning stove, or summer afternoons with a cream tea in the pretty English garden.
Church cottage is the quintessential English country cottage situated next to the church in Martinstown village, where you wouldn’t be surprised if you bumped into Miss Marple in the local shop or pub.
The main entrance to the cottage is through a stable door which leads into the dining room with traditional brick floor and double aspect windows with views to the garden and the grounds of the parish church of St Martin. Here you will find a dining table to seat six guests. Off the dining room, via a couple of steep steps, is the kitchen with all the appliances you need for a home from home stay. There’s a freestanding electric oven, microwave, dishwasher, full height fridge/freezer and a combined washer/dryer. Also off the dining room is the main living room with large inglenook fireplace and log burner (first logs are free), smart TV, and comfortable seating for six guests. Off the living room is the ground floor bedroom with a single bed, dressing table, chair, hooks and hangers for hanging clothes and double aspect windows with views to the garden and the church.
A door in the living room leads to the stairs to the first floor where you will find two further bedrooms, an en-suite bathroom and the family shower room. Please note that the stairs are traditional cottage stairs and quite steep with limited headroom in places. The master bedroom features a double bed, chest of drawers and bedside tables. A rail of hooks and hangers are provided for hanging clothes. An en-suite bathroom with WC, basin and a compact bath that includes a hand-held shower attachment is accessed from the master bedroom. The second bedroom on the first floor has twin beds with a zip and link mattress that is set up as a king size bed as standard. Please advise at time of booking if you wish the beds to be separated into twins. An additional single bed in this room provides sleeping for up to three guests.
Lastly on the first floor there is a family shower room with a large shower cubicle and an electric shower, basin and WC.
Outside is a pretty lawned cottage garden with a patio area with a dining table, chairs and parasol for al-fresco dining. A gas BBQ is provided and there is a storage shed available for guest use. Parking for one car is available directly in front of the property off the main road. Additional off-road parking spaces available nearby if further car parking is required.
A cot and highchair are available for guest use. Please advise at time of booking if you require these to be made available. Please note that a cot mattress is not supplied, nor any cot bedding.
