Rowan Cottage is a beautifully presented timber clad home, with an enclosed garden, that welcomes up to four adults, two children and two dogs. Situated on the exclusive Silverlake nature reserve estate near the Jurassic Coast in Dorset, the cottage is in easy walking distance of a swimming lake with beach and pontoon, various children’s play areas, cycle trails and nature trails. Also available on site is an outdoor heated swimming pool, cold water plunge pool, restaurant and luxury spa.
Description
Rowan Cottage is a beautifully presented timber clad home, with an enclosed garden, that welcomes up to four adults, two children and two dogs. Situated on the exclusive Silverlake nature reserve estate near the Jurassic Coast in Dorset, the cottage is in easy walking distance of a swimming lake with beach and pontoon, various children’s play areas, cycle trails and nature trails. Also available on site is an outdoor heated swimming pool, cold water plunge pool, restaurant and luxury spa.
When you arrive at Rowan Cottage, the combination of muted colours, natural wood furnishings and coastal inspired decor, provides an immediate feeling of calm and peace; the perfect home-from-home escape.
The ground floor features a warm and welcoming open plan kitchen/living/dining area together with a ground floor cloakroom/shower room.
The living area provides comfortable seating for up to six guests including a reclining sofa and chair, perfect for relaxing in front of the smart TV and the wood-burning stove.
The dining area seats up to 6 guests on leather upholstered chairs and benefits from expansive bifolding doors that provide direct access and views of the lawned garden and timber decks.
The kitchen features everything you might need for a self-catering stay including an induction hob, large oven, tall fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, Krups Nespresso coffee machine and a washer/dryer.
Upstairs, there are three bedrooms and a family bathroom. The master bedroom benefits from a super-king size bed, fitted wardrobe with chest of drawers, separate dressing table and an en-suite shower room. Bedroom 2 has a king-size bed with built in wardrobe with shelving and Bedroom 3 is a bunk bedroom which also includes a pull out trundle bed for occasional use by a child. The family bathroom includes a shower over bath.
Outside there is a fenced garden to the rear of the property, accessed from the living/dining area, which features two decked areas. The dining deck has a table with parasol that seats six and there is a charcoal Weber BBQ provided for guests to use during the summer season.
The parking area is accessed from the rear of the property along a gravel path which runs alongside the garden. There is parking for two cars and a TWR EV charger with cables, which is operated via a QR code. Guests can access the fenced area of the garden directly from the parking area through a small cottage gate.
A travel cot and a highchair are available for guest use. Please advise at time of booking if you require these to be made available for your stay.
Bikes, paddleboards and kayaks can be hired onsite for 2 hour sessions. Bike Hire can also be arranged for the duration of your stay through Curated Cottages (delivered to Rowan Cottage and collected after the hire period). E-bike tours, a private chef and yacht trips can also be arranged. If you fancy making use of the log burner during your stay, a fire pack including logs, kindling and firelighters can be supplied and for guests that will be barbequing, BBQ packs can also be supplied. These items do incur a minimal extra charge.
Guests can enjoy free access during 2026 to all the facilities at Silverlake, including outdoor heated pool, spa (treatments are chargeable), restaurant, lake beach with pontoon, children’s play areas, cycle trails, the activity hub for watersports equipment hire, nature trails, table tennis tables, tennis court, multi-use activity court, fishing lakes and the zip wire. From 2027 there will be a charge for use of the pool and spa facilities. A gym is expected to be available in 2027.

Need to Know
This property is self-catering. Guests are provided with a complimentary welcome hamper of local Dorset produce, a kitchen pack with cleaning cloths and basic supplies, an initial supply of toilet rolls and a toiletries pack per bathroom/cloakroom. Furry friends are not left out – canine guests to Rowan Cottage also enjoy a Pooch welcome pack.
High quality 80/20 percale bed linens and luxury 100% cotton bath/hand towels are provided. Beach towels are not provided.
A travel cot and a highchair are available at this property. Please advise at time of booking if you require these to be made available for your stay. Guests are requested to bring their own mattress and bedlinen for the travel cot.

• Feeding wildlife or wildfowl is prohibited
• Parking is only allowed in the designated spaces for your property, or in the overflow car parks provided
• Silverlake operates a quiet time between 11pm and 8am.
• No stag or hen parties are allowed
• No contractor bookings where guests will be commuting to and from work are allowed
• Guests are asked to use buoyancy aids when undertaking any water activities on site and wear helmets when cycling around the estate
• Dogs must be kept on leads other than in the designated dog walking areas
• Silverlake recommends that guests do not swim in open water unsupervised
• All activities undertaken at Silverlake are at the guests' own risk

Location
Silverlake is a privately owned nature reserve holiday home estate between Weymouth and Dorchester, in easy reach of the Jurassic Coast and its beaches and attractions.
Silverlake has acres of natural land to explore, an abundance of wildlife and freshwater lakes for swimming and water-sports. In addition to an outdoor heated pool, spa and restaurant there are nature trails, cycle trails, a multi-purpose activity court, tennis and table tennis on site. There is also a sand beach at Beaumont Lake with freshwater swimming and a pontoon on the lake. Plenty of activties to enjoy whatever the season.
Although there is plenty to keep you occupied at Silverlake, the area around is worth exploring. Consider visiting the historic city of Dorchester famous for Thomas Hardy's birthplace, hiking the South West coast path, visiting Portland Bill lighthouse or enjoying hunting for fossils in some of the Jurassic Coast coves. There are many beaches within a few miles of Rowan Cottage, including the safe and shallow Weymouth beach, the natural pebble beach at Ringstead Bay, the dramatic scenery of Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove, or the expansive Chesil beach near Portland.
• The nearest convenience stores are the Premier 21 Mount Skippet Way, Dorchester DT2 8TP or the Co-Op is in Crossways. Either are within 5 minutes drive from the property or 20-30 minutes walking. The closest large supermarket is Tesco's superstore in Dorchester (16 minutes drive)
* The nearest pub is The Frampton Arms which is approximately 7 minutes by car or taxi, or 45 minutes on foot.
• Dorchester town centre is 12 minutes by car
• Weymouth town, esplanade and main beach is 20 minutes by car.
