Description

Songbird is a stunning contemporary pet-friendly Dorset holiday home that sleeps up to 9 guests in four bedrooms. Situated within the prestigious Silverlake nature reserve estate with access to a heated outdoor pool and spa, Songbird is positioned on the edge of the lake and boasts incredible water and countryside views, not only from inside the house, but from a fabulous rooftop terrace and deck. A log fire in the living room makes this home just as ideal for winter breaks as it is for summer stays.

Whether you're visiting Dorset with family or friends, Songbird is a wonderful holiday cottage in which to enjoy a break away from it all. Here you can experience all the benefits of luxury living in a property that's not only set within acres of nature reserve with walking and cycling trails and surrounded by freshwater lakes, it also offers access to an on-site outdoor heated pool, spa, children's play areas and tennis court. Songbird is also in easy reach of all the major Dorset beaches and attractions including the Jurassic Coast, Durdle Door, Weymouth Beach, Portland Bill, Sealife Centre or Monkey World - so you can be as chilled or active as you wish.

Songbird is situated overlooking the lake and the sand martin conservation area which is ideal for those who enjoy nature, wildlife and bird-watching. Think of relaxing evenings with a drink on the outside deck or the rooftop terrace, with its luxury outdoor seating and games for children, or consider paddle-boarding, kayaking or swimming in the lakes which are easily from the nearby jetty. A path at the side of the property leads directly to the water's edge.

The property has been designed with comfort and relaxation in mind. The ground floor accommodation comprises a light-filled spacious open-plan living, dining and kitchen area, with views over the outdoor deck to the water through floor to ceiling patio doors. The dining section includes a table that seats up to eight and there is a breakfast bar area with seating for three.

The comfortable living area includes an extra-large corner sofa and two easy chairs and boasts a log burner, TV, and a selection of board games, card games and a chess set for cosy nights in. Also on the ground floor is a double bedroom with fitted wardrobes, and a separate cloakroom. The bed in the ground floor bedroom is accessible from one side only as it abuts a wall.

On the first floor is a king size master bedroom with fitted wardrobes and luxury en-suite shower room. The bedroom has access via large sliding doors to balcony decking with a bistro table and chairs. The second bedroom is another king, also with fitted wardrobes and access to a balcony shared with bedroom three. The third bedroom has a triple sleeper bunk bed with a double mattress below and single bed above. We recommend the top bunk for children only. This room also includes a selection of children's toys that are available for guests to use. A family bathroom with bath and shower completes the first floor accommodation.

The roof terrace, accessed via a flight of stairs from the second floor, includes a large luxury corner sofa seating area with sun shade and coffee table, as well as a faux grass play area for children with a variety of outdoor games including giant Yahtzee, hoops, beanbags and Cornhole, provided by the owners for guests' enjoyment.

Outside on the ground floor, there is a large wooden deck with table and benches for alfresco dining and an outdoor hanging 'Egg' chair for whiling away the hours and a grassed lawn area beyond. A Weber charcoal BBQ is provided at this property during the summer season. T

To the front of the property is a private drive suitable for parking two cars, and an EV charger. Please note that one of the roads within the Shepperds View village in which Songbird is situated, is currently being used by some construction traffic (heading to a development beyond Shepperds View village). As such the road can be uneven at times. We recommend leaving the low slung supercars at home for the holiday!

A cot and highchair are available for guest use. Please advise at time of booking if you require these to be made available. Please note that a cot mattress is not supplied, nor any cot bedding.

One small well behaved dog is welcome but please be aware that the garden is not enclosed.

Bike hire (delivered to your holiday home and collected after the hire period), private chef, E-bike tours and yacht trips from Weymouth Harbour can be arranged by Curated Cottages to make your holiday even more memorable. We can also arrange for logs and kindling to be supplied for your stay so that you can enjoy a cosy log fire on cooler evenings. Please get in touch if you have any specific requirements you would like us to try to arrange. Kayak and paddleboard hire is available on site at Silverlake.

Guests can enjoy free access in 2026 to the outdoor heated pool, sauna and spa (treatments are chargeable). Other facilities include restaurant, lake beach with pontoon, children’s play areas, cycle trails, and the activity hub for bike hire and watersports equipment hire (2 hour chargeable bookable hire sessions), nature trails, table tennis tables, tennis court, multi-use activity court, fishing lakes and the zip wire. From 2027 there will be a charge for use of the pool and spa facilities. A new state-of-the-art on-site gym is planned to open in 2027. Bike hire and watersports equipment hire is also available separately through Curated Cottages for the duration of your stay. Please be aware that the availability of on-site facilities cannot be guaranteed for your stay as these are operated separately by the Silverlake Estate.
